When we say we want “Photography For A Wedding”, what really are we looking for? Are we looking for that pure, romance shot that will remind us of our special day for the rest of our lives? Or do we just want shots of the event with our family and friends ? Or maybe a crazy photoshoot just like the example photo above.

What can we expect and look for when we want to get our official wedding photographer. Here’s some tips we gathered that may help you too.

Most wedding magazines will give you a list of questions to ask a wedding photographer. Stuff like: “Can you describe your style? What equipment do you shoot with?”

“It’s important to look for a variety of types of images in a photographer’s portfolio, including images shot during the day and night with natural light and flash. Most weddings require a variety of lighting techniques to successfully capture the day and a portfolio should demonstrate these skills.” —Morgan Lynn Razi, of Morgan Lynn Photographyin Houston, Texas.

Since color correction is the basic post production, it should be used on every single image. Many photographers will not color correct any, or will only color correct “select” images from your wedding. This means that you may have a lot of pictures where your skin tones are orange, yellow, red or even blue.

Each photographer is only going to show their favorite photos online, so when viewing galleries, a great question to ask yourself is, ‘How happy would I be if that photo were in my wedding album?’ It’s always important to let photographers know exactly what you are hoping for, but first ask your candidate photographers (or judge for yourself) what style they typically work in.
